How to Make Beef And Bratwurst
- Trim excess fat from 1.5 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into 4 large serving-size pieces.
- In a large skillet, brown the beef and 1 lb bratwurst on all sides in 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Set aside.
- Drain off excess fat from the skillet.
- In a 3-4 quart slow cooker, layer 1 large onion (chopped), sprinkle with 1 tablespoon tapioca starch, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Pour one 28-ounce can of undrained crushed tomatoes over the onion mixture in the slow cooker.
- Add the browned beef and bratwurst to the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender.
