  3. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Stir in 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup, 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies (like Rotel), ½ cup milk, 1 teaspoon chili powder, ½ teaspoon cumin, and salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cut 6-8 corn or flour tortillas into 1-inch strips and add to the beef mixture.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 2-quart shallow baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle with 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
