How to Make Broken Glass Salad
- Prepare three (3) packages of JELL-O®: one lime, one strawberry, and one orange. Use 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water per package, following package directions.
- Pour each JELL-O® mixture into separate 8x8 inch baking pans.
- Refrigerate until completely firm.
- Drain one (20 ounce) can of pineapple chunks, reserving the juice.
- Heat the reserved pineapple juice in a saucepan until boiling.
- Ensure you have 1 cup of pineapple juice. Add water if necessary to reach 1 cup of liquid.
- Add one (3 ounce) package of lemon JELL-O® to the boiling pineapple juice.
- Remove from heat.
- Add 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
- Stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add 1/2 cup cold water.
- Add 4 ounces of Cool Whip® whipped topping and the drained pineapple chunks.
- Stir gently to combine.
- If needed, add up to another 4 ounces of Cool Whip® for desired consistency. The mixture should be slightly thick, not runny.
- Cut the set JELL-O® into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Gently fold the JELL-O® cubes into the pineapple mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a clear glass bowl.
- Refrigerate for 5-8 hours, or overnight, to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to chill thoroughly.
