How to Make Kahlua Cinnamon Brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted margarine over medium-low heat. Add 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup Kahlua and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup packed light brown sugar and 2 large eggs until light and fluffy.
  5. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, beating well to combine.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. (Do not overbake)
  10. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle 1/4 cup granulated sugar over the top.
  11. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.
