How to Make Pork Chops Supreme

  1. Season both sides of 4 (1-inch thick) pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear pork chops for 5 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  3. Remove pork chops from skillet and set aside. Pour off excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
  4. Add 1 large onion, thinly sliced, to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, until softened.
  5. Return pork chops to the skillet. Add 1 cup chicken broth, 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional), 1 teaspoon dried thyme, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
  6. Bring to a simmer, then cover the skillet and transfer to a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and very tender (internal temperature should reach 145°F).
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
