How to Make Spinach Cheese And Sausage Stuffed Shells Oamc

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook 1 pound jumbo pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and drain again.
  3. While pasta cooks, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 medium onion, chopped, and cook for 5 minutes, until softened.
  4. Add 1 pound Italian sausage (removed from casings), and 2 cloves garlic, minced, to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the sausage with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes).
  5. In a large bowl, lightly beat 1 large egg.
  6. Stir in 15 ounces ricotta cheese, 8 ounces mozzarella cheese (shredded), 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 9 ounces fresh spinach (chopped), and the cooled sausage mixture. Mix well.
  7. Spread 1 cup of your favorite spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a large (9x13 inch) baking dish.
  8. Fill each cooked pasta shell with the cheese and sausage mixture. Arrange the stuffed shells in the baking dish.
  9. Pour the remaining spaghetti sauce (approximately 26 ounces) over the stuffed shells.
  10. Sprinkle with extra mozzarella and/or Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  11. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
  13. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
