How to Make 3 2 1 Spaghetti Sauce
- In a large stock pot, brown 1 lb of ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add 1 lb of sliced Italian sausage to the pot and brown, then drain.
- Add 1 large chopped onion and 1 chopped green bell pepper to the pot. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Stir in 4 minced cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp dried oregano, 1 tsp dried basil, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, and 2 bay leaves.
- Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Return the cooked beef and sausage to the pot.
- Pour in 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and 1 (28 oz) can of diced tomatoes (undrained).
- Stir well to combine. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in 1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Remove bay leaves before serving. Enjoy immediately or freeze for later use.
