Ingredients for Afghan Ambrosia Haf Miwah

  • 1 cup shelled pistachios
  • 1/2 cup shelled almonds
  • 1/2 cup shelled walnuts
  • 1 cup dried raisins
  • Golden Raisin
  • Apricot
  • Red Cherries
  • Sugar
  • Rose Water

How to Make Afghan Ambrosia Haf Miwah

  1. Pour boiling water over 1 cup shelled pistachios, 1/2 cup shelled almonds, and 1/2 cup shelled walnuts.
  2. Let stand for five minutes to loosen skins.
  3. Drain nuts and rinse under cold water. Gently rub skins off using a clean kitchen towel. Set aside to cool completely.
  4. Rinse 1 cup dried raisins and 1 cup dried apricots under cold water. Drain well.
  5. In a large saucepan, combine the cooled nuts, raisins, and apricots.
  6. Add 2 cups of water to the saucepan.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
  8. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the apricots are tender and the liquid has slightly reduced.
  9. Remove from heat and let cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  10. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
