  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • Vanilla Powder

How to Make Apple Crumbles Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a food processor, combine 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, ¾ cup packed light brown sugar, 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the remaining ½ cup all-purpose flour to the food processor and pulse until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Reserve about ⅓ of the crumble mixture. Press the remaining crumble into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. In a large bowl, combine 6 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced), ½ cup granulated sugar, ¼ cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  6. Microwave the apple mixture for 6-8 minutes, or until slightly softened (Microwave wattage varies, watch carefully). Stir in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave again for 1-2 minutes, or until thickened. Let cool slightly.
  7. Spread the apple filling evenly over the crumble layer in the pan.
  8. Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly over the apple filling.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Let cool completely before serving.
