How to Make Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich
- Core one Granny Smith apple and cut it in half.
- Using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife, thinly slice enough apple from one half to cover your bread (approximately 1/2 of the apple).
- Heat 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup thinly sliced shallots and 1 clove of minced garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes until softened.
- Remove the shallot and garlic mixture from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Butter one side of a slice of bread and sprinkle with salt. Place the buttered side down in the skillet. Top with 1 slice of cheese (cheddar or your favorite melting cheese is recommended). Evenly layer the apple slices over the cheese. Sprinkle the sautéed shallot and garlic mixture over the apples. Top with another slice of cheese, and then place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up and salted.
