How to Make Apple Pie Cheddar Paninis
- Preheat your panini press or large skillet over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar.
- Peel and thinly slice 1 medium apple (about 1 cup). Toss the apple slices with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Lightly grease your panini press or skillet with cooking spray.
- Place 4 slices of bread on the heated surface.
- Sprinkle 1/8 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over each slice of bread.
- Top each slice of bread with 1/4 of the cinnamon-sugar apple mixture and 1/4 tablespoon of butter.
- Add another 1/8 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the apple mixture.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top to create four sandwiches.
- Spread the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of butter evenly over the top slices of bread.
- Lightly sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the top slices of bread.
- Cook the paninis for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. If using a skillet, use a spatula to press down lightly while cooking.
- Remove from the press, let cool slightly, and slice in half before serving. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
