How to Make Authentic Meat Loaf
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 4x8 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup tomato sauce, 3 tablespoons salsa, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and 2 large egg whites.
- Add 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms, 2 cloves minced garlic, and 1/2 cup rolled oats to the wet ingredients. Mix well.
- In a large bowl, gently combine 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound ground turkey.
- Add the wet ingredient mixture to the meat mixture and gently combine. Do not overmix.
