How to Make Bachelor Beef Stew
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a heavy 5-quart oven-safe pot or Dutch oven with a tight-fitting lid, combine the following ingredients: 1.5 lbs beef stew meat (cut into 1-inch cubes), 1 large onion (chopped), 2 carrots (chopped), 2 celery stalks (chopped), 3 cloves garlic (minced), 4 medium potatoes (peeled and cubed), 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, 4 cups beef broth, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp dried thyme, 1 tsp dried rosemary, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
- Cover the pot tightly.
- Bake uncovered for 5 hours, or until the beef is incredibly tender. Do not open the oven during cooking.
- Once cooked, carefully remove from oven (use oven mitts!). Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
