How to Make Bacon Colby Lasagna

  1. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion; cook, breaking up the beef, until the meat is no longer pink (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in crumbled bacon, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, sugar, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  5. Spread 1/2 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Layer four lasagna noodles over the meat sauce. Top with 1 cup of the meat sauce and 1 cup of the shredded Colby cheese.
  7. Repeat layers: noodles, meat sauce, Colby cheese.
  8. Top with the remaining noodles and remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with remaining Colby cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil.
  10. Bake for 40 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
