How to Make Baked Apple Hot Toddy

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Core and thinly slice 1 medium apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended). Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over the apple slices and toss to coat.
  3. Arrange apple slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and slightly caramelized. Alternatively, you can quickly sauté or torch the apple slices until caramelized.
  4. While the apples bake, prepare the honey syrup: combine 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat gently until honey dissolves. Let cool slightly.
  5. Muddle the baked apple slices in a shaker with 2 tablespoons of honey syrup and the juice of 1/2 lemon.
  6. Add 2 ounces of brandy and 1 ounce of Calvados to the shaker.
  7. Fill a heatproof glass with hot water (about 1/2 cup).
  8. Pour the brandy mixture from the shaker into the glass.
  9. Add 1 cinnamon stick to the drink, stir gently and garnish with a baked apple slice.
