Ingredients for Baked Garlic With Blue Cheese And Rosemary

  • 2-3 heads of garlic
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • Olive Oil
  • Chicken Broth
  • Dry White Wine
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • Blue Cheese
  • Crusty Bread

How to Make Baked Garlic With Blue Cheese And Rosemary

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut 1/2 inch off the top of each garlic head, exposing the cloves.
  3. Remove any loose papery outer skin from the garlic heads.
  4. Place garlic heads, cut-side up, in a non-aluminum baking dish.
  5. Top each garlic head with 1 tablespoon of butter.
  6. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the garlic.
  7. Pour 1/2 cup of chicken broth and 1/4 cup of dry white wine into the baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh rosemary over the garlic.
  9. Place 2 fresh rosemary sprigs in the dish.
  10. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper.
  11. Bake uncovered for 60-75 minutes, basting every 15 minutes with pan juices and adding more broth if needed to maintain some sauce in the dish. Garlic should be tender.
  12. Remove from oven and add 4 ounces of crumbled blue cheese to the dish.
  13. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Discard the used rosemary sprigs.
  15. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs before serving.
  16. Serve immediately with crusty bread for dipping.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
