Ingredients for Baked Pasta
- Ground Beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Penne Pasta
- Parmesan Cheese
- 1 large egg
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Cottage Cheese
- 24 oz jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
How to Make Baked Pasta
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess grease.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, egg, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. Mix well.
- In a 12x9 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of spaghetti sauce on the bottom.
- Layer half of the cooked pasta over the sauce.
- Top with half of the meat mixture, and then half of the cheese mixture.
- Repeat layers: sauce, pasta, meat, cheese.
- Spread the remaining spaghetti sauce over the top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes to allow the top to brown slightly.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
