How to Make Baked Pork Chops And Stuffing
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a shallow 2-2.5 quart casserole dish with a small piece of pork fat from one of the chops.
- Season pork chops generously with salt and pepper. Brown chops on both sides over medium heat in a separate skillet until lightly browned (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Place the browned pork chops in a single layer in the prepared casserole dish.
- In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of cubed bread, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1/4 cup melted butter, 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning, and 1/4 cup water. Mix well to evenly moisten the bread.
- Spread the bread stuffing evenly over the pork chops in the casserole dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of celery/golden mushroom) and 1/3 cup water until smooth.
- Pour the soup mixture evenly over the pork chops and stuffing.
- Bake, uncovered, for 60-75 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the stuffing is golden brown and heated through. Internal temperature of the pork chops should reach 145°F (63°C).
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
