How to Make Baked Ravioli

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add 1/2 cup chopped onion and 2 cloves minced garlic. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Cook until onions are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 28 ounces (794g) canned crushed tomatoes, and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, breaking up the tomatoes with a spoon.
  6. Simmer until the sauce has reduced to about 5 cups.
  7. While the sauce simmers, cook 1 pound (454g) frozen ravioli according to package directions until they float to the surface. Drain well.
  8. In a large casserole dish, gently toss the cooked ravioli with the marinara sauce.
  9. Top with 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
