How to Make Barbecue Chicken Wings
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps them crisp up nicely.
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or more, to taste), and salt and pepper to taste.
- Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on a baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two baking sheets if necessary.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and flip the wings.
- Brush the wings generously with your favorite barbecue sauce.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and the sauce is caramelized and slightly sticky.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
