- Lightly spray a large cookie sheet and a 10-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray.

- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Unroll the pizza dough onto the prepared cookie sheet.

- Spoon BBQ sauce evenly over the cheese, followed by the shredded chicken or pork.
- Layer the apple-onion mixture evenly over the chicken.
- Arrange the cheddar cheese blend slices evenly over the apple-onion mixture.
- Using scissors or a sharp knife, make 1-inch apart cuts along the long sides of the dough rectangle, stopping about 1/2 inch from the filling.
- Alternately cross the strips diagonally over the filling.
- Tuck the ends of the dough under and press to seal.
- Brush the beaten egg white over the top of the braid.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 11-15 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
- Remove from the cookie sheet and cut into crosswise slices.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
