Ingredients for Bbq Roast

  • Chuck Roast
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • Dried Onion Flakes
  • Instant Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • Dried Red Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Vegetable Oil

How to Make Bbq Roast

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Rub this mixture generously all over the roast.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the roast in the hot skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until nicely browned.
  5. Pour 1 cup BBQ sauce, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1/4 cup water over the roast in the skillet.
  6. Turn the roast several times to coat it evenly with the BBQ mixture.
  7. Tent the cast iron skillet loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and cook for 2 1/2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 190-195°F (88-91°C) for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Check and baste with pan juices every 30 minutes.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
