How to Make Beer Bratwurst And Cabbage
- Pierce several holes in 1 lb of beer bratwurst using a fork. Microwave the bratwurst in its package for 4 minutes to partially cook.
- Remove from microwave and let cool slightly. Slice the bratwurst into 1/2-inch thick rounds and set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add 1 medium onion (chopped), 1 green bell pepper (chopped), and 4 cups of shredded green cabbage.
- Cover the pot and cook for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
- Add the sliced bratwurst, 1 (14.5 ounce) can of diced tomatoes (undrained), 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper to the pot.
