How to Make Garlic Beef Jerky
- In a large zip-top bag, combine all ingredients (see below).
- Add 1 lb of thinly sliced beef or venison.
- Seal the bag, pressing out excess air. Gently shake to ensure the meat is evenly coated.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat oven to 150°F (70°C). Line two baking sheets with aluminum foil.
- Arrange the marinated meat strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Leave space between each piece for even cooking.
- Bake for 5-7 hours, or until the jerky is completely dry and bendable but not brittle. Check after 5 hours. It should be chewy, not stiff.
- Remove from oven and let the jerky cool completely on a wire rack. This allows for further drying and prevents steaming.
- Once completely cool, store the jerky in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the refrigerator.
- Enjoy your homemade garlic beef jerky!
