Ingredients for Gyro Meat

  • Lean Ground Lamb
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (use less if using all beef)

How to Make Gyro Meat

  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly combine 1 lb ground lamb (or a mix of lamb and beef), 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley, 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp dried oregano, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp ground coriander, 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tsp salt.
  2. Gently shape the mixture into four 1/2-inch thick patties.
  3. Preheat your broiler. Place the patties on a broiler pan and broil for 8-10 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
  4. Remove from broiler and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  5. Serve immediately on warm pita bread with sliced tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions, and a generous dollop of Cucumber Yogurt Sauce.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
