How to Make Low Fat Goulash

  1. Chop the onion and brown it in 1 tablespoon of margarine (or olive oil) in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 lb of ground turkey to the skillet and brown, breaking it up with a spoon.
  3. While the turkey is browning, cook 1 lb of macaroni according to package directions.
  4. Once the turkey is cooked, drain off any excess grease. Stir in 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Drain the cooked macaroni thoroughly.
  6. Add the drained macaroni and browned turkey to the large skillet.
  7. Add 1/2 of the (28 oz) can of crushed tomatoes and 1 cup of water (or beef broth) to the skillet. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Stir in the remaining crushed tomatoes. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded.
