How to Make Pasties
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (fan-forced) or 180°C (conventional).
- Gently thaw your store-bought shortcrust pastry sheets.
- Using a large dinner plate as a guide, cut out 5 circles from each pastry sheet.
- In a large bowl, thoroughly combine all filling ingredients (see below). Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions.
- Place one portion of the filling in the center of each pastry circle. Brush the edges of the pastry with water.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to form a half-moon shape, crimping the edges firmly to seal.
- Place the pasties onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a beaten egg or milk glaze.
- Use a sharp knife to cut a small slit in the top of each pasty to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the pasties are golden brown and the filling is cooked through. Let them cool slightly before serving.
