How to Make The Ultimate Barbecued Ribs

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. Apply a thin layer of olive oil to both sides.
  3. Generously season both sides of the ribs with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder.
  4. Place ribs on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour.
  5. While ribs are baking, prepare the BBQ sauce: In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and hot sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened (about 15-20 minutes).
  6. Remove ribs from oven. Increase oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Apply a generous layer of BBQ sauce to one side of the ribs.
  8. Place ribs back in oven, sauce-side up, and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Flip the ribs, and apply another layer of BBQ sauce to the other side.
  10. Bake for another 30 minutes, or until the ribs are tender and the sauce is caramelized.
  11. Remove ribs from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
