  • Bouillon Cubes
  • 1 large egg

  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 6-8 strips of bacon
  • Potato
  • Margarine

How to Make Almost Roast Meatloaf

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 500g ground beef, 1 large onion (finely chopped), 2 beef bouillon cubes (crushed), 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Mix thoroughly with your hands.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf (approximately 20cm x 10cm).
  4. Place the loaf on a baking sheet and roll it in 100g breadcrumbs until completely coated.
  5. Lay 6-8 strips of bacon over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Arrange 500g cubed potatoes around the meatloaf. Sprinkle potatoes with 1/2 teaspoon salt and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine.
  7. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the potatoes are tender. Internal temperature of the meatloaf should reach 75°C (165°F).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite gravy.
