  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • Hoisin Sauce
  • Soy Sauce
  • Toasted Sesame Oil
  • Gingerroot
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped

How to Make Asian Turkey Burger

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine 1 lb ground turkey, 1/4 cup applesauce, 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon grated ginger, 2 cloves minced garlic, 2 scallions (finely chopped), 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  2. Form the turkey mixture into 6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  3. Lightly brush a grill pan or large skillet with 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil and heat over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the patties to the hot pan and cook for 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  5. Transfer the cooked patties to hamburger buns.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings (sesame seeds, sriracha mayo, pickled ginger, etc.).

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
