Ingredients for Baby Food Chicken

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Unbleached Flour
  • 1/4 cup whole milk (or breast milk/formula for babies)
  • 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast (about 6 oz)
  • 1 medium russet potato, peeled and cubed
  • White Cheddar Cheese
  • Vegetables
  • Salt

How to Make Baby Food Chicken

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake chicken breast for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through. Let cool, then shred.
  2. While chicken bakes, bake or boil the cubed potato until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain and mash or leave in cubes.
  3. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  4. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and creamy. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  6. Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheese (if using) until melted.
  7. Add shredded chicken and potato to the sauce. Stir to combine.
  8. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and other spices according to your baby's age and tolerance. Start with smaller amounts and gradually increase as needed.
  9. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
