How to Make Bacalhau A Bras
- Finely chop 1 large onion and 2 cloves of garlic.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add 1 pound of shredded, pre-cooked and cooled salt cod (bacalhau) to the skillet. Gently stir to combine and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 6 large eggs with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture into the skillet with the cod and onions. Cook, stirring gently, until the eggs are set but still slightly moist, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the Bacalhau à Brás to a serving platter. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley.
- Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately with thinly sliced french fries, rice, and a mixed green salad with vinaigrette dressing. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice over each serving is optional.
