Ingredients for Baked Ham With Bourbon Glaze

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • Orange Juice
  • Dijon Mustard
  • 5-7 lb fully cooked ham

How to Make Baked Ham With Bourbon Glaze

  1. Combine 1/2 cup honey and 1/4 cup molasses in a 1-quart glass dish. Microwave on high for 1 minute.
  2. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Whisk in 1/4 cup bourbon, 1/4 cup orange juice, and 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the skin and excess surface fat from a 5-7 lb fully cooked ham.
  5. Place ham in a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking pan.
  6. Score the ham in a diamond pattern, making 1/4-inch deep cuts.
  7. Pour half of the glaze over the ham.
  8. Bake on the lower oven rack for 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes, basting every 15 minutes with remaining glaze. Internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).
  9. Remove ham from oven and let rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
  10. Meanwhile, reserve drippings from the baking pan.
  11. Chill reserved drippings until fat solidifies.
  12. Remove and discard solidified fat from the drippings.
  13. Bring the remaining drippings to a simmer in a small saucepan on the stovetop.
  14. Serve the warmed drippings alongside the carved ham.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
