Ingredients for Baked Salmon With Tarragon And Bacon

  • Salmon Fillets
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus extra for greasing foil
  • Dried Tarragon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

How to Make Baked Salmon With Tarragon And Bacon

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Butter one side of a large (approximately 18x12 inch) sheet of aluminum foil.
  3. Place the buttered foil in a baking dish large enough to hold the salmon fillets.
  4. In a medium frypan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion and cook until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add 4 slices of bacon, chopped, and 1 tablespoon of fresh tarragon, chopped, to the pan. Cook for another 2 minutes, until bacon is slightly crispy.
  6. Stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and remove from heat.
  7. Place 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets on the prepared foil in the baking dish.
  8. Evenly distribute the onion and bacon mixture over the salmon fillets. Drizzle any remaining pan juices over the salmon.
  9. Fold the foil over the fish, creating a sealed parcel.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  11. Serve immediately with a dollop of crème fraîche or thick cream (optional).

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
