- 6-8 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- Brown Sugar
How to Make Barbecued Chestnuts In Bacon
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup ketchup and 1 tablespoon brown sugar until smooth.
- Cut each bacon rasher into thirds. Gently stretch each piece lengthwise using the back of a knife to make it longer and thinner.
- Wrap each water chestnut with a piece of bacon and secure with a cocktail stick.
- Dip each wrapped water chestnut into the ketchup mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated. Thread onto long skewers, leaving space between each for even cooking.
- Preheat grill to medium heat. Grill skewers for 5-8 minutes, turning 2-3 times and basting frequently with the remaining ketchup mixture. Cook until the bacon is crispy and golden brown, and the water chestnuts are tender.
- Remove from grill, carefully remove cocktail sticks, and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
