How to Make Bbq Cantonese Pork Tenderloin
- In a large zip-top bag, whisk together the marinade ingredients: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, 1 clove minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper.
- Add the 1.5-2 lb pork tenderloin to the bag, ensuring it's fully coated in the marinade.
- Seal the bag, pressing out excess air. Place the bag in a bowl (to catch any leaks) and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, turning occasionally.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (approximately 350°F).
- Remove the pork tenderloin from the marinade (reserve the marinade). Grill the tenderloin 4-6 inches from the heat source, turning occasionally and basting frequently with the reserved marinade.
- Grill for approximately 40-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork is cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the pork from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
