- Sherry Wine
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp water
- 200g bean sprouts
How to Make Beef Bean Sprouts
- Thinly slice 250g sirloin steak.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp grated ginger, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tsp sugar (optional). Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tbsp water, and 1 tbsp vegetable oil to create a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the pan with the beef. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens and becomes clear (about 1 minute).
- Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tbsp vegetable oil to the pan. Add the 200g bean sprouts and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Add the cooked beef back to the pan and toss to combine. Serve immediately.
- Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions (optional).
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
