Ingredients for Beef Pasties

  • Frozen Bread Dough
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium potato, peeled and diced
  • Carrot
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Celery
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to Make Beef Pasties

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, potato, rutabaga, carrots, and seasonings. Mix well.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  4. Cut out circles using a 6-inch cookie cutter or a bowl.
  5. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  6. Fold the pastry over to form a half-moon shape, crimping the edges to seal.
  7. Cut several slits in the top of each pasty to allow steam to escape.
  8. Place the pasties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is heated through.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
