How to Make Beef Pinwheels
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare biscuit dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes), and 3/4 cup milk. Mix until just combined.
- Roll out the biscuit dough into a 10 x 15 inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1 lb ground beef, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp dried thyme, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the rolled-out biscuit dough.
- Tightly roll the dough into a log, like a jelly roll.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 slices, each about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the beef is cooked through.
