How to Make Berbere Ethiopian Hot Pepper Seasoning
- In a heavy saucepan, toast the following ground spices together over low heat for 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning: 2 tbsp ginger, 1 tbsp cardamom, 2 tbsp coriander, 1 tbsp fenugreek, 1 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cloves, 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp allspice.
- Add 2 tbsp salt, 2 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice preference!), 2 tbsp paprika, and 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper.
