Ingredients for Big Star Meatloaf

  • 1 cup steak sauce
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Dried Thyme
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
  • Breadcrumbs

How to Make Big Star Meatloaf

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup steak sauce, 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend recommended), 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 2 large eggs, and 1 tablespoon steak seasoning. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
  3. Add 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs and mix gently until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
  4. Place the meatloaf mixture into a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish. Shape into a loaf.
  5. Pour 1/2 cup water into the bottom of the casserole dish, ensuring it reaches about 1/4 inch up the sides of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center registers 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
