- Velveeta Cheese
How to Make Cheeseburger Stuffed French Bread
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown 1 lb ground beef and 1 medium chopped onion over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in 10.75 oz can of condensed French onion soup, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until heated through.
- Meanwhile, slice the top third off the French bread loaf. Carefully hollow out the bottom two-thirds, leaving a 3/4-inch shell. Save the bread chunks (or feed them to the birds!).
- Spread the top slice of bread with 1 tbsp of softened butter.
- Place the hollowed-out bread on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and fill the hollowed-out bread with the meat mixture. Top with 8-10 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese).
- Place the buttered top slice next to the filled bread on the baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is heated through and lightly toasted.
- Carefully place the top slice onto the filled bread.
- Let cool slightly before slicing into 4-5 inch wide portions. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
