Ingredients for Danish
- Crescent Rolls
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- Sugar
- Vanilla
- Egg Yolk
How to Make Danish
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Unroll one package (141 oz) of crescent roll dough and gently press the perforations to seal.
- Spread the dough evenly into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese filling ingredients (see below) using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough in the baking pan.
- Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling. You can either fold it over once or make a more elaborate fold for a more aesthetically pleasing look.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Let cool slightly before drizzling with the orange glaze (recipe below).
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
