  • Extra Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz pasta sauce
  • Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Dry Basil
  • 6-9 lasagna noodles (adjust to your preference)
  • Salt & Pepper

How to Make Fantastic Meat Lasagna

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large non-stick skillet, brown 1 lb ground beef with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in 1 tbsp dried basil, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 28 oz crushed tomatoes, 15 oz pasta sauce, 15 oz ricotta cheese, and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with 3 lasagna noodles (adjust based on your preference).
  5. Top with half of the meat sauce mixture.
  6. Add another layer of 3 lasagna noodles, followed by the remaining meat sauce.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and lasagna is heated through.
  10. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving to allow the lasagna to set.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
