How to Make Lemony Baked Tofu

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Carefully cut the block of tofu horizontally into four even slices.
  3. Select your preferred marinade (see below) and whisk all ingredients together until completely smooth.
  4. Pour half of the marinade into a small, oven-safe, non-reactive baking dish (an 8" square or 7x9" dish works perfectly).
  5. Arrange the tofu slices in the prepared baking dish, ensuring they are in a single layer.
  6. Pour the remaining marinade evenly over the tofu slices.
  7. Bake for 45-60 minutes, flipping the tofu slices halfway through (around 30 minutes), to ensure even browning and crisping.
  8. The tofu is ready when it's beautifully browned, bubbling slightly, and the edges are curling upwards.
  9. Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven and use a metal spatula to transfer the tofu slices to a serving platter.
  10. Serve immediately while hot, or enjoy warm, at room temperature, or even chilled. Leftovers are great!
  11. Store leftover tofu in an airtight container or plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
