How to Make Almond Scones
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the toasted slivered almonds.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently with a fork until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently form the dough into two equal-sized balls.
- Flatten each ball into a 8-10 inch circle, about 1-2 inches thick.
- Cut each circle into 8 wedges.
- Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
