- Toast pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until lightly golden, about 3-5 minutes. Set aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add angel hair pasta and cook according to package directions, until al dente. Reserve about 1/3 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter with olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add shrimp, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until shrimp turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in white wine and cook for another minute, allowing the alcohol to evaporate.
- Stir in chopped basil.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the shrimp mixture. Toss gently to combine.
- If the mixture is too dry, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
- Divide the pasta among four bowls.
- Top with toasted pine nuts and grated Parmesan cheese (if using).
- Serve immediately with a light green salad and Italian bread.
