How to Make Applesauce Meatloaf
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, gently combine 1.5 lbs ground beef, 1/2 cup applesauce, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves.
- Pack the meatloaf mixture firmly into the prepared loaf pan.
- Arrange 4-5 apple rings on top of the meatloaf.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1 tablespoon water to create a glaze. Brush the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 65-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf stand for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
