Ingredients for Asparagus In White Wine

  • 1 pound asparagus spears
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • White Wine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

How to Make Asparagus In White Wine

  1. Wash 1 pound of asparagus and snap off the tough bottom ends.
  2. Lay asparagus spears in a shallow pan and cover with 2 cups of boiling salted water (1 teaspoon salt).
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes, or until asparagus is tender-crisp.
  4. Drain the asparagus and divide it evenly among 4 buttered ramekins.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1/2 cup of dry white wine.
  6. Pour the white wine sauce evenly over the asparagus in the ramekins.
  7. Sprinkle each ramekin with freshly ground black pepper and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
