- Onions
- 150g bacon, diced
- Beef Mince
- 250g sliced mushrooms
- Plain Flour
- Red Wine
- 200ml beer
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Puff Pastry
How to Make Beef Beer Pies
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large pan, sauté 1 large diced onion and 150g diced bacon until the onion softens and the bacon is cooked through. Set aside.
- Add 500g beef mince to the pan and cook until browned. Add 250g sliced mushrooms and cook until softened.
- Return the cooked onion and bacon to the pan. Stir in 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add 100ml red wine and 200ml beer. Simmer until the liquid has reduced to a thick sauce consistency (about 10-15 minutes).
- Stir in 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley.
- If using a fully enclosed pie crust, allow the filling to cool completely before spooning into the pastry cases to prevent a soggy bottom. For individual pie dishes, spoon the mixture into the dishes.
- Cover with your favorite pie pastry and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and well-risen.
- Let cool slightly before serving and enjoy your authentic Aussie Beef Beer Pies!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
